About this book

Set in the Scottish countryside, this tender pastoral romance follows the blossoming love between a young preacher and a spirited country girl, amid the beauty of the Galloway hills and the gentle dramas of rural life. S. R. Crockett, a leading figure of the 'Kailyard' school of Scottish fiction, writes with warmth, humor, and deep affection for the land and people he knew. Charming and idyllic, the novel offers the sweet pleasures of old-fashioned romance in a lovingly rendered setting. A best-seller in its day, The Lilac Sunbonnet is a delightful and heartfelt story of young love in the Scottish lowlands.
