In one scene three travellers spend a night in the open in small dog tents beside a fire. Blake and Joe turn in, while Hank walks off to a rise to gaze into the distance, and Joe whispers that something is up. In another, a hose gets out of control and drenches the comedian Christopher Cutler Piper. Abe Haskill, called the old fisherman-chief, tells Mr. Ringold that they saved his building. In a third passage Mr. Ringold says they got everything they came for, and Miss Lee tells the gloomy Mr. Piper to cheer up because the sun is shining.
