About this book
The Prince of the House of David is by Joseph Holt Ingraham. Amos says that while he was in the Temple, serving at the altar with the priests, words of Isaiah came into his thoughts and would not be put aside. Amos tells Ben Israel that the priests of the Temple have indeed become corrupt, save a few here and there.
A party draws near to Bethany and beholds the roof of the house of Lazarus, upon which they discover Mary watching the road towards Jerusalem for them. A writer who addresses "my dear father" asks him to read over the whole narrative and answer the inquiry whether this man is the Son of God and the very Christ, the long-looked-for Messias. The writer says Isaias prophesied of the Christ whom he saw afar off, that he should be a man of sorrows and despised and rejected of men.
