About this book
The Recent Mammals of Tamaulipas, México is a work by Ticul Alvarez on the recent mammals of Tamaulipas. Under the heading Precipitation, the text says rainfall varies seasonally, with January amounting to 25 to 50 mm. in the coastal region and 10 to 25 mm. in the rest of the state. The text says Tamayo (1949) followed the Koeppen System in classifying types of climate and thereby recognized 10 different kinds of climate in Tamaulipas, which can be grouped into three major categories.
Of one pocket gopher, the text says that no specimens other than those listed in the original description had been reported up to now, and that in 1953 Gerd H. Heinrich collected a series of 19 individuals one mile south of Altamira. A table, Table 2, sets out the differences between three species of Geomys: G. arenarius, G. personatus and G. tropicalis.
