About this book
Anna Elisabet Weirauch wrote The scorpion. Myra wakes to a bright, cheerful, winter sunshine in the room, and her first thought is of Olga, who is not there. Myra sees Olga’s hat and gloves and takes it that it was no dream, that Olga had really been there and would return.
Myra sits for a while beside a bed, terrified lest that dreadful rattle in the throat should cease suddenly, while doctors enter and confer in whispers. The doctor probably observes Myra's greenish, livid appearance and lays his hand on her hair. Uncle George and Aunt Antonia were most agreeably surprised by Myra’s behavior, having expected an unmanageable child whom it would be necessary to tame, if the occasion required, force.
