About this book
The collection presents gospels, epistles and other portions of ancient holy scriptures as works attributed to apostles and their disciples and venerated by primitive Christian churches during the first four centuries. The heading of the Protevangelion describes an account of the birth of Christ and the perpetual Virgin Mary, his mother.
An exhortation urges the brethren to contend earnestly, run an incorruptible race and strive to receive a crown, coming as near as they can if all cannot be crowned. A dialogue about building a tower describes the largest and brightest being selected and squared before virgins take them up and fit them into the building.
