About this book

Sidney H. Reynolds is the author of The Vertebrate Skeleton. The text names forms of vertebra: amphicoelous when both surfaces are concave, opisthocoelous when a centrum is convex in front and concave behind, and procoelous when concave in front and convex behind. The text describes the cervical or neck vertebrae as connecting the skull with the thorax and as characterised by relatively great freedom of movement.

A passage on the wing says that the primaries differ from all the other quill feathers in having the posterior half of the vane much wider than the anterior half, and that they are ten in number. A figure caption describes the wing of a Wild Duck, with the upper figure showing the dorsal side of a right wing and the lower figure the ventral side of a left wing.
