About this book
The Voice of the Machines, headed An Introduction to the Twentieth Century, is by Gerald Stanley Lee. The contents list, among others, has parts called THE MEN BEHIND THE MACHINES, THE LANGUAGE OF THE MACHINES, THE MACHINES AS POETS and THE IDEAS BEHIND THE MACHINES. The text quotes a literary definition saying no inspiring emotions, ideas or conceptions can possibly be connected with machinery. The text says the literary definition does not say what is to become of a world roofed in with machines for the rest of its natural life.
A numbered point reads that the substance of a beautiful thing is its Idea. A speaker writes I shall remember I have lived.
