About this book
The World's Leading Conquerors by Wilson Lloyd Bevan discusses Alexander’s succession to the throne of Macedon and Philip’s sincere personal affection for him. The battle account describes a journey that took the Greek commander the whole night, from Myriandros south of the defile to level country on the banks of the Pinarus. The account says that Darius could not use his superior numbers and that there was no opportunity to exploit the Persian advantage in cavalry.
The account of the Turks describes the development of their navy and their attacks on merchant vessels belonging to the republic as early as 1428. The discussion of Napoleon records the decree of Berlin, declaring the British Isles blockaded and prohibiting all commerce with England.
