About this book
Timber-Wolf is a book by Jackson Gregory. In Gallup's House, no drinks are served for the first time in many days, and with so many strangers in town one did not know how many federal agents might be snooping about. News spreads that Mexicali Joe had been located, in the stone jail, locked up by Taggart.
A woman tells Bruce Standing that the game is not played out between them yet. The woman proudly says she is the daughter of Dick Brooke, who “was a man and a miner and after that, if you like, a gambler.” Cliff Shipton acknowledges that “the signs were all right,” but the gold is not found, nor anything to show that Joe or another had worked here recently. Shipton, staring and frowning, says that all this work was done a year ago.
