About this book

Tom Swift and His Giant Telescope is a book by Victor Appleton. The contents list names chapters such as The New Project, Suspicions and An Accident, among others. Tom Swift appears calm, although in reality he is about as excited over his latest invention as he has ever been about anything, and he tells his chum Ned that he hopes to learn more about the planets with his new device. A green crystal suddenly glows brightly for a fraction of a second, then cannot be seen at all, and only the polished ring of metal in which it was mounted remains.

Tom calls in his giant servant Koku, a huge man who stands a trifle over eight feet in height. Tom and Ned go to the home of Mr. Damon to ask if he would like to accompany them to the West Indies. A specially large motor truck is built to carry first the telescope, then the giant green disk, and Ned gives many a groan over the mounting cost sheets.
