Lord Dawlish is a thoroughly nice, thoroughly broke English peer who cannot quite bring himself to marry for money. Then an eccentric American millionaire he once helped on a golf course dies and leaves him a fortune, money that by rights should have gone to the old man’s niece and nephew. Too decent to keep it with a clear conscience, Dawlish sails for America under a false name, hoping to put things right, and promptly falls for the very niece he means to repay. Bees, blackmail, and a stray scorpion complicate matters. Wodehouse spins the muddle into one of his warmest early romantic comedies. Offered free as a PDF and EPUB edition.
