About this book
We're Friends, Now is by Henry Hasse, and a line of introduction says the little man stood in front of the monstrous machine as the synaptic drone heightened to a scream. Raoul Beardsley felt the burden, the dragging sense of inevitability, more than other days. A news voice announces ECAIAC, Electronic Analysis Integrator and Computor, and says the reporter has learned from a very reliable source that three Primes are involved.
Beardsley, muttering over Carmack, has lived with the case for seven weeks now, intricately and intimately, while it shoved everything else right off the news-stat. Mandleco couldn't believe it when told forty minutes, chortled happily, and swung about to greet Beardsley, who approached at that moment. In a spoken exchange, Arnold says a synapse is the primary adjunct to memory and the human brain has billions of them, neuronically linked.
