About this book

H.G. Wells's What is Coming? A Forecast of Things after the War is dated 1916, and its contents list includes Forecasting the Future, The End of the War, What the War Is Doing for Women and The Outlook for the Germans. The text says that if there is to be a permanent peace of the world, it is clear that there must be some permanent means of settling disputes between Powers and nations that would otherwise be at war.

The text names as the first great difficulty that the formal Peace Movement is quite amateurish. A silent figure, young and uniformed in khaki, brings with him a new spirit into British life, the spirit of the new soldier. The text speaks of a new Germany whose unification began with the spoliation of Denmark and was completed at Versailles.
