About this book
Willard Huntington Wright's What Nietzsche Taught is dated 1915 and carries a portrait bust of Nietzsche by Professor Karl Donndorf. After an introduction and a biographical sketch, the contents give chapters named for Nietzsche's books and themes, from Human, All-Too-Human and The Dawn of Day to Thus Spake Zarathustra, Beyond Good and Evil, The Genealogy of Morals, and The Will to Power in two volumes, with a bibliography.
One passage traces his descent from a line of pastors: his grandfather held a doctorate in divinity, and his father, Karl-Ludwig, was a Lutheran pastor at Röcken who lived only five years after Friedrich was born. The family then moved to Naumburg. Later chapters give numbered extracts, among them passages on a second birth and on logic as a scheme made for our own purposes.
