About this book
When Dreams Come True is a book by Ritter Brown. The text says there is a tradition among the Indians of the Southwest, from Arizona to the Isthmus of Panama, that Montezuma will one day return on the back of an eagle, wearing a golden crown. A character named Chiquita says the old days can never be effaced, and recalls setting meat and drink before her father and his guests as they sat in a circle about the fire in the center of his lodge.
Twilight has descended when two riders, following a trail that skirts the foothills, come suddenly upon a woman riding at full gallop. A bunch of red berries adorns the woman’s heavy black hair, which falls in masses about her shoulders. The list of illustrations includes a picture captioned “She glided and whirled in the moonlight, graceful as a wind-blown rose.”
