About this book
William Blake is a book by Arthur Symons. The book is dedicated to Auguste Rodin, whose work is called the marriage of heaven and hell. The contents list a part headed Records from Contemporary Sources, which includes, among others, extracts from the diary, letters, and reminiscences of Henry Crabb Robinson and Blake's Horoscope.
The text says that in the Descriptive Catalogue to his exhibition of pictures in 1809, Blake defines, more precisely than in any other place, what vision was to him. The text says the mind of Blake lay open to eternity as a seed-plot lies open to the sower. The text says that in 1820 Blake had carried out his last commission from Butts in a series of twenty-one drawings in illustration of the Book of Job. A quoted account describes gray grasshoppers bearing a body laid out on a rose leaf, which they buried with songs, and says it was a fairy funeral.
