About this book
With the Children on Sundays, with the line Through Eye-Gate and Ear-Gate into the City of Child-Soul, is a book by Sylvanus Stall, D. D. A numbered list of suggestions says to use the brightest and most cheerful room in the house for the afternoon church, to open the church service with singing, and to ring a bell slowly as the time for church approaches.
Another suggestion is that one of the children lift a collection, with a toy bank to save the money received, contributed through the Church or Sunday-school for missionary purposes. A further suggestion says a brief prayer should be offered, as a sentence prayer by each in rotation or by all uniting in the Lord's Prayer. A talk about snow says each flake is formed with as much correctness and beauty as if God had made each one for special examination, and that the snow is also useful. A talk about the soul says the works of a watch can keep good time without being in the case, so the soul can exist apart from the body.
