Morning and Evening Hymns for a Week is by the late Miss Charlotte Elliott, who is named as author of Just as I am. A hymn headed Sunday Morning carries the words "Unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of Righteousness arise with healing in his wings", marked Mal. iv. 2. A verse addresses the Sun of Righteousness, risen on this day to set no more, and asks it to shine now to heal and bless.

A hymn headed Thursday Evening carries the words "In everything, by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God." A hymn asks whether any hour is so sweet, from blush of morn to evening-star, as the hour that calls the speaker to the feet of God: the hour of prayer. A hymn tells its reader that one task is thine, and one alone, to search out and subdue thine own.
