About this book
Women of the Classics comes with sixteen photogravures presenting studies of the heroines of the book. The contents list has sections headed Women of Homer, Women of Attic Tragedy and A Woman of Virgil, among others. The section headed Æschylus: Clytemnestra says the writer now comes to the heroines of Attic Tragedy, and that the women of Homer, with all their romantic beauty and charm, gleam from a far distance.
The text says that Clytemnestra, holding tremendous passions in the leash, began her formal speech of welcome. The text says that Medea and Jason stand typifying the eternal struggle between the passionate heart and the arrogant brain. The text says that the love of Calypso, of which she spoke so simply and frankly to Hermes, was something deeper than caprice.
