About this book
Wonderful Stories for Children is by Hans Christian Andersen, translated from the Danish by Mary Howitt. The contents list The Daisy, The Naughty Boy, Tommelise, The Rose-Elf, The Garden of Paradise, A Night in the Kitchen, Little Ida's Flowers, The Constant Tin Soldier and The Storks. The tale of Olé Luckoiè says there is nobody in all this world who knows so many tales as he does, and that he comes in an evening when a child sits so nicely at the table, or on its little stool.
A character named Yalmar sails in a little boat painted red and white, drawn by six swans, and great castles of glass and of marble stand in the midst of the woods. A mother stork tells her young storks that they will learn to fly and that she will take them out into the meadows to visit the frogs.
