Work for Women is credited to George J. Manson. The preface says the object of this little book is to answer, as far as it is possible, the questions a woman asks when she makes up her mind to work for a living. The preface says some of the most important avocations, professions, trades, businesses, in which women are now engaged, have been selected.
A section on design says there are two schools in New York where industrial designing is taught to women. The text gives some of the subjects of lectures, among them Conventionalization in Design, Practical Design as Applied to Wall-paper and Principles of Botany. The text says old-time actors like John Gilbert, William Warren and Joseph Jefferson lament the decadence of the stock company system.
