Abu Sayeed Ayyub was an Indian philosopher, teacher, literary critic, and writer who was born on 14th April 1906 in a traditional Urdu-speaking Muslim family in Calcutta ( Kolkata).

But, Abu Sayeed Ayyub was so captivated in his early teenage by the poetries of Rabindranath Tagore that he learned Bengali all by himself to appreciate Tagore better.

Later when Abu Sayeed Ayyub started his writing career, most of his writing was in Bengali. Abu Sayeed Ayyub wrote on aesthetics, religion, and socialism.
Abu Syeed Ayyub taught philosophy at the University of Calcutta, the Visva Bharati University, and University Of Melbourne
