Alaol

Alaol or Syed Alaol was a Bengali poet of the 17th century who was born in 1607 in Jalalpur, Madaripur, Fatehabad, Bengal. The most well-known work of Alaol is Padmavati, which depicts the story of Padmavati, who was a Sinhalese princess. Alaol is considered one of the most prolific medieval Bengali Poets.

There is an important Bangladeshi literary prize, the Alaol Sahitya Puroskar is named after his name.
