Shanku Maharaj

Shanku Maharaj was born in Jessore Bangladesh, he is renowned for writing modern Bengali literature. In the field of travelogues, it can be said that he has made the most modernism appear.

The best creation of the author is in the area of the Himalayas. He is also a qualified mountaineer and participated in quite a number of Himalayan expeditions and trekking.

There are quite a large number of books and travelogues we find on this subject starting from the early nineteenth century reports or novels. However, only a few writers succeeded to secure a “forever” position in Bengali Literature in the Himalayas. Amongst the few, the name Shanku Maharaj is undoubtedly coming in the top few.
