A.L. Waddington is the byline used by Angela L. Waddington, an author of paranormal romance, time-travel fiction, and historically inflected fantasy. Essence opens the Eve series and establishes the parallel-life idea that shapes the sequence. Eighteen-year-old Jocelyn Timmons experiences another existence in the 1800s, while Jackson Chandler becomes central to both the romance and the mystery surrounding her divided awareness. Waddington developed the series around EVE, short for Essence Voyager Era, a gift that allows certain people to live on separate planes without understanding both lives at once. Later books, including Enlightened, Perception, and Illumination, extend that premise and the relationship between Jocelyn and Jackson. The author also created the related Spirit Quest series.
