Glines came up through self-publishing during the New Adult boom around 2012, when readers wanted romance about people just past school and publishers had not yet noticed, and she wrote fast enough to keep several series running at once. Rosemary Beach and Sea Breeze are the long ones, small southern coastal towns where the same families keep intermarrying and falling out; Misbehaving belongs to Sea Breeze. The later books, Smoke Bomb and Straight Fire among them, lean toward suspense. She works from Alabama, publishes both independently and through a New York house, and has been open that she writes to a schedule rather than waiting on inspiration.
