Alexandria Bellefleur
The Fiancée Farce (2023) begins with a bookshop owner who invents a girlfriend from the face on a romance cover, and then puts the real model in front of her with reasons of her own for wanting a marriage. Alexandria Bellefleur, a Romance Writers of America Golden Heart finalist in 2018, writes contemporary queer romance in exactly that register. Her debut, Written in the Stars (2020), pairs Elle Jones, an astrologer who runs a horoscope account with her flatmate Margot, with Darcy Lowell, a guarded actuary; it won a Lambda Literary Award in 2021 and a Ripped Bodice Award for Excellence in Romantic Fiction. A Pacific Northwesterner by temperament, she lives in New York City.
