Allen Zadoff moves between comic family stories and fast-moving fiction for teenage readers. Since You Left Me follows Sanskrit Aaron Zuckerman, a student at a Jewish school in Los Angeles who invents an explanation for his mother's absence and then struggles to contain the consequences.
