Andrea Davis Pinkney

Andrea Davis Pinkney is an American author and editor whose books for young readers connect imaginative storytelling with African American history. Bird in a Box, published by Little, Brown Books for Young Readers in 2011, is a historical novel set during the Great Depression. It brings together Otis, Willie, and Hibernia, three children whose separate circumstances converge through their admiration for boxer Joe Louis.
