Author: Anna Birch

Anna Birch made her novel debut with I Kissed Alice, published in 2020 with illustrations by Victoria Ying. The story places artists Rhodes and Iliana at a fictional Birmingham performing-arts school, where they compete for a scholarship while unknowingly collaborating on a webcomic under online aliases. Birch calls the story a queer reworking of You’ve Got Mail, joining mistaken identity with rivalry and creative partnership. Birch's childhood was in a rural area outside Birmingham, Alabama, before she moved into the city. Her author biography also records graduate study in teaching English to speakers of other languages, connecting her writing career with an interest in classroom education.
