Anthony Buckeridge

Anthony Buckeridge created the English Jennings school comedies, which began as radio scripts. The Trouble With Jennings was published by Collins in 1960 as the eleventh novel in the sequence. It follows Jennings and Darbishire through misunderstandings at Linbury Court, including a bathroom mishap, an ill-timed impersonation, and a confused fire drill. Buckeridge drew on his schoolmaster experience, shaping the series through inventive slang, comic escalation, and two boys whose plans rarely unfold as intended.
