Aurélien Géron led the team that classified YouTube videos at Google before writing what became the standard practical introduction to machine learning. Hands-On Machine Learning works through scikit-learn first and neural networks second, on the argument that a reader ought to get a model running and evaluate it honestly before touching deep learning at all.
