Bruce Boston crosses horror, fantasy, science fiction, surrealism, and speculative satire in an American career spanning poetry and prose. The Guardener’s Tale is his 2007 dystopian novel, issued by Sam's Dot Publishing and later released in additional editions. Set within a technologically controlled city-state, it contrasts citizen Richard Thorne with Sol Thatcher, a state officer trained to identify and reshape people judged socially unstable. Their converging perspectives turn the book into an inquiry about conformity, authority, memory, and the limits of institutional certainty. Bram Stoker Award judges selected the novel among their finalists, and it also received a Prometheus Award nomination. Boston has published Stained Glass Rain, numerous story collections, and extensive poetry in magazines including Asimov's, Analog, Strange Horizons, and Weird Tales. He received major honors from the Science Fiction Poetry Association, including its Grand Master recognition. The Guardener’s Tale brings his poetic interest in altered perception and language into a sustained speculative narrative about individuality under surveillance.
