C.S. Taylor

C.S. Taylor is a former United States Marine whose historical fiction reflects a sustained interest in 1940s military aviation. Nadya’s War, published by Tiny Fox Press in 2017, follows Nadya Buzina, a pilot serving with the Soviet 586th all-female fighter regiment during the 1942 campaign around Stalingrad. A severe aerial defeat leaves her injured and forces her to rebuild confidence while facing pressure from both enemy pilots and political scrutiny within her own ranks. Taylor’s background includes military service, fencing, kayaking, and detailed study of wartime aircraft. The novel uses cockpit action to explore loyalty, faith, grief, and the demands placed on women who flew combat missions for the Soviet Union. Nadya’s War is Taylor’s principal published novel and grounds its fictional protagonist in a real, often overlooked unit, balancing technical flight sequences with the strain of surviving among rapidly changing crews.
