Camilla Ceder

Camilla Ceder is a Swedish writer whose crime fiction draws on her training in social work and psychotherapy. Born in 1976, she lives in Gothenburg, the city and surrounding region that shape her Inspector Christian Tell novels. Frozen Moment was her debut, first published in Swedish as Fruset ögonblick during 2008 before an English translation followed. The novel introduces Christian Tell through an investigation in the wintry countryside near Gothenburg, while journalist Seja Lundberg becomes personally connected to the case. Ceder followed it with Babylon, continuing Tell's work and extending the sequence's psychological and social concerns. Her professional background helps explain the novels' attention to family histories, community pressures, and the motives behind conduct, not only the mechanics of police inquiry. Ceder has also written books for children, including stories about Sally, broadening her catalogue beyond Scandinavian crime. Frozen Moment nevertheless established her international reputation and the recurring investigator through whom she examines southwestern Sweden's landscapes, institutions, and strained relationships.
