Canbin Liang was a professor at Beijing Normal University whose research and teaching centered on general relativity. Differential Geometry and General Relativity, coauthored with Bin Zhou, develops the mathematics needed to describe spacetime and then applies it to special and general relativity. Springer presents the English edition as the first volume of a three-part graduate text, with worked examples, exercises, and optional sections for readers at different levels. The opening chapters introduce manifolds, tensor fields, curvature, Lie derivatives, and differential forms before the discussion reaches Einstein's equation and Schwarzschild spacetime. Translated and revised by Weizhen Jia and Bin Zhou from a Chinese edition, the book extends Liang's classroom approach to an international audience. Springer also records his seven monographs, more than fifty research articles, and national recognition for teaching and textbook work.
