Author: Henry Latham
Henry Latham combined mathematics, university administration, and religious writing during a long career at Trinity Hall, Cambridge. He served as senior tutor from 1856 to 1885 and as master from 1888 until 1902. His 1848 Geometrical Problems treats conic sections through constructions and proofs. Considerations on the Suggestions of the University Commissioners, published in 1857, addressed fellowships and scholarships at Cambridge. Decades later, he published the theological work A Service of Angels. A major benefactor as well as an administrator, Latham helped reshape the college during the nineteenth century. His books trace the same broad career, moving from geometry to university reform and theology.
