Cara Martin

Cara Martin serves as Canadian writer Kelly Martin’s alternate identity for the teen horror novel Shantallow. DCB released the book during 2019; later records retain the Cara Martin credit for this darker branch of her fiction. The story follows seventeen-year-old Misha Antall, who recognizes Tanvi Mahajan from recurring nightmares before meeting her in waking life. Their intense and damaging relationship ends, but a kidnapping pulls Misha, Tanvi, her cousin Lauren, and another teenager into a remote house where human captors are not the only threat. Kirkus classifies the novel as psychological horror for readers fourteen to eighteen and emphasizes its treatment of abuse, jealousy, trauma, and room for change. Martin studied film at York University and has lived in the Greater Toronto Area and Dublin. Shantallow combines supernatural siege, teenage relationships, and visual horror, using Misha’s inherited patterns of behavior as part of the danger he must recognize and resist.
