Caroline Lee Hentz

Caroline Lee Hentz (1800-1856) was an American novelist and one of the most widely read authors of domestic fiction in the antebellum era. Born in Lancaster, Massachusetts, she spent much of her adult life in Southern states, producing novels, short stories, poetry, and plays. She is remembered today for The Planter's Northern Bride (1854) and for popular sentimental novels such as Linda (1850) and Ernest Linwood (1856), which made her a bestselling name in the 1850s.
