Catherine Linka writes young-reader fiction in which ambition, belonging, and ethical choice place pressure on characters finding their independence. What I Want You to See follows Sabine Reye, a college freshman studying visual art in California after losing both her mother and her home. A demanding teacher, a coveted scholarship, and access to another artist's unfinished work pull Sabine into questions about imitation, responsibility, and the price of recognition. Little, Brown Books for Young Readers published the novel, describing it as both an art-school story and a suspense narrative. Linka also wrote A Girl Called Fearless and its sequel A Girl Undone, speculative novels that examine power and resistance through a teenage viewpoint. She earned an MFA in Writing for Children and Young Readers from Vermont College of Fine Arts. Her books repeatedly connect public systems, including education and politics, with the private decisions young people make when security and principle begin to conflict.
