Prentiss co-founded Passages Malibu, a residential addiction centre charging tens of thousands of dollars a month, together with his son, who had been dependent on drugs. The Alcoholism and Addiction Cure argues that addiction is not a disease, that it is caused by an underlying condition which can be found and treated, and that it can therefore be cured outright, a position essentially every addiction medicine body rejects. He holds no clinical qualification. Zen and the Art of Happiness is the general one, built on the proposition that everything which happens is to your benefit.
