Christina Sweeney-Baird

The End of Men imagines a virus that kills only men and follows the world remade around the women left, and Sweeney-Baird finished it in 2019, months before a real pandemic arrived and made every page read differently. She has said she considered abandoning it. The novel is told through dozens of voices across several countries, which was a choice about scale rather than a trick. She practises law in London and wrote the book in the evenings.
