Clive Thompson

Thompson has written about technology for Wired and other magazines for two decades, and the books work by spending real time with the people involved. Smarter Than You Think argues, against the mood of its moment, that thinking alongside machines has generally improved human thought rather than degraded it. Coders is a long piece of reporting on programmers as a culture: how they are trained, what they believe, why so few of them are women, and what happens when a small group writes the rules everybody else lives inside.
