Derek Thompson
Two different writers share this name here. Derek Thompson the journalist is a staff writer at The Atlantic and wrote Hit Makers, on why some songs, films and products become popular while better ones disappear, arguing that familiarity and distribution beat quality more often than anyone likes to admit. He also co-wrote a book with Ezra Klein about why building anything in America has become so slow. Somewhere Over the Rainbow, I've Lost My Damn Mind is by a different Derek Thompson, a memoirist in rural Ohio who assembled an account of living with bipolar disorder out of blog entries arranged as a mood chart.
