Dacher Keltner

Keltner runs the Greater Good Science Center at Berkeley and studies emotions psychology had largely ignored: awe, compassion, embarrassment, the human uses of touch. Pixar hired him to advise on Inside Out, and the film's decision to give sadness a job came partly out of his research. The Power Paradox argues that people gain power through empathy and lose it to the self-absorption that power produces. Awe gathers two decades of work on what happens in the body when a person meets something vast.
