Dan Jones
Jones read history at Cambridge under David Starkey and writes narrative history at a pace closer to journalism, which academics sometimes hold against him and readers do not. The Plantagenets covers two centuries of English kings as a sequence of crises. Powers and Thrones runs across the whole medieval millennium. He presents television history as well, and has moved into fiction with Essex Dogs, a novel about ordinary soldiers on the march to Crécy. He co-presents a long-running podcast on medieval history and has written a book on the Templars and another on the Crusades from both sides.
