Essex Dogs
Dan Jones writes a fascinating historical fiction book called “Essex Dogs,” which takes place during the Hundred Years’ War. Ten men known as the Essex Dogs set foot on Normandy’s shores in July of 1346. They comprise an undisciplined squad of archers and men-at-arms, led by a captain scarred by battle.
