David Baddiel
1964
Jews Don't Count argues that a progressive politics attentive to every other minority routinely leaves Jews off the list, and that hostility to Jews is treated as a lesser racism because Jews get read as white and successful. Baddiel is a comedian and novelist who was half of a very large nineties comedy partnership, and he has apologised at length for a blackface impression he performed on television in that period; the book's critics raise it and he addresses it directly rather than walking around it. He has also made documentaries on Holocaust denial and on his father's dementia.
