David Ransom was a British writer and editor whose work for New Internationalist connected economic policy with social justice, labor, trade, and environmental questions. People-First Economics collects arguments for reshaping economic priorities around jobs, fairness, and climate. New Internationalist Publications issued the book, with editions crediting Ransom alongside collaborators including Naomi Klein, Walden Bello, and Vanessa Baird. Ransom joined the magazine in 1989 and later served as a co-editor, contributing reporting and commentary on globalization, financial systems, fair trade, and tax justice. His writing often approached large economic structures through the experiences of workers and communities. That perspective also informs his New Internationalist articles on the financial crisis and alternative ways of measuring wellbeing, where economic systems are treated as public choices rather than fixed natural forces.
